How T5 Works

T5 is a very simple and efficient application to securely transmit and receive sensitive business data.

At its most basic level, T5 wraps data (whether EDI data or a Microsoft Word document) in an EDI header and footer. This effectively transforms the data into an X.12 document which is then transmitted or received through a specified transmission type with the appropriate signature types, encryption methods, and secure certificate. T5 also supports a number of receipt types for non-repudiation purposes.

In sending data, T5 works with very little user intervention. Based upon a "directory hierarchy," T5 sends through one of three channels:

  • Monitor Directory—A specific directory from which T5 automatically sends any data that is placed into it.
  • Other Applications—T5 will automatically send data from a directory that into which properly formed EDI data is placed by a translator. T5 will pre-process multiple ISA data before sending.
  • One-time Transmission—T5 can transmit one-time, non-EDI documents on an as-needed basis.

As a system to run your entire trading community, T5 offers you a number of outstanding features and functions to make managing data transmission and receipt easy and effortless.
